Frequently asked questions
Everything families ask us most, in one place. Don't see your question? Call 802-376-4892 or email info@upliftacro.com.
Getting Started
Do I need experience to start?
Not at all. Uplift welcomes every level, from first-timers to advanced dancers and acrobats. Our classes are grouped by age and ability so every student starts in the right place. Browse our classes by age to find the right fit, and check the current class schedule to see what's offered when.
How do I enroll?
You can enroll online anytime through our registration portal, or call 802-376-4892 or email info@upliftacro.com and we'll walk you through it and help you choose the right class. Not sure where to start? Our class schedule and tuition and fees pages have everything you need to plan.
Can my child try a class before committing?
Yes — our seasonal mini-sessions and workshops are a great low-commitment way to experience Uplift before enrolling for the full season. See our programs and workshops for current options, or contact us and we'll recommend a good starting point.
What should my child wear to class?
It depends on the discipline. Dance classes generally call for fitted dancewear and the correct shoes (ballet, jazz, or tap), while acro and aerial classes have their own attire and safety guidelines — fitted clothing that covers the backs of the knees for silks, and no jewelry. Our dress code page lists exactly what to wear for every class type, plus where to buy it.
Classes & Styles
What styles do you teach?
More than ten disciplines: AcroDance, ballet and pointe, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, tap, musical theatre dance, aerial silks, lyra (aerial hoop) and circus arts. You can explore every style and the age each one starts on our classes page.
What are aerial silks and lyra?
They're aerial disciplines that blend dance with acrobatics on suspended fabric (silks) and a suspended hoop (lyra). Uplift is the only local studio that teaches them, and they build incredible strength, flexibility and confidence. Aerial classes have specific attire and safety requirements — see our dress code page before your first class, and our programs page for how the aerial program is structured.
What is acro / AcroDance?
AcroDance combines dance technique with acrobatic skills like balances, limber work and tumbling, blended seamlessly into choreography. Uplift is an Acrobatic Arts certified studio, so acro is taught safely and progressed properly through clear skill levels. See where AcroDance fits among our classes.
Ages & Levels
What age can my child start?
As young as 3, in our Tiny Tots ballet and tumbling classes. We offer classes for every age through adult — see the full age breakdown on our classes page.
Do you offer adult classes?
Yes. Adults 16 and up can take dance and aerial classes for fitness, artistry and the joy of movement — no experience necessary. Check the class schedule for current adult class times.
How are classes leveled?
Classes are grouped by age (Tiny Tots 3–5, Juniors 6–10, Teens 11+, Adults 16+) and by ability, so students train alongside peers and progress into more advanced disciplines as they grow. Acro and aerial use clear skill levels so students advance safely. Our classes page shows how the age groups and levels are organized.
Enrollment
When does the season start?
Our main season begins in September and runs for 10 months. We also offer seasonal mini-sessions and summer camps throughout the year. See the class schedule for exact dates, and our event calendar for the full season at a glance.
Can students join mid-season?
In many cases, yes — it depends on the class and how far the season has progressed. Reach out and we'll let you know what's open and where your dancer would fit best.
Tuition & Fees
How much does it cost?
Class tuition is billed monthly across the 10-month season and is based on how much time your dancer trains each week, so a single weekly class costs less than a full multi-class schedule. Summer camps are priced per week with money-saving passes available. See our tuition and fees page for how billing works, or contact us for a recommendation based on your dancer's schedule.
Is there a registration fee?
Yes — there's an annual registration fee per family when you enroll for the season, which holds your dancer's spot and covers administrative costs. Full details, including tuition and any additional costume or recital fees, are on our tuition and fees page.
Do you offer discounts for multiple classes?
Yes. Because tuition is based on weekly training time, families taking several classes get a better per-class rate, and we offer camp passes for families attending multiple summer weeks. We're always happy to help multi-class families plan an affordable schedule — see our tuition and fees page or contact us for current options.
Recital & Performances
Is there a recital?
Yes. Our year-end recital is the highlight of the season — a professionally produced show where every student performs what they've worked toward all year. It typically takes place in late spring across multiple programs. Watch our event calendar for recital dates, ticket information and rehearsal schedules.
Are there costume or recital fees?
Most performing classes have a costume fee for the year-end recital, billed separately from monthly tuition, so families can plan ahead. Exact costs and timing are shared well in advance. See our tuition and fees page for how these fees work, and our event calendar for recital timing.
Does every student perform, or is it optional?
Performing in the recital is a wonderful, confidence-building experience and most students take part, but it's never required. If you'd prefer your dancer focus purely on class, just let us know — reach out and we'll make sure their experience fits your family.
Studio & Staff
Are your instructors certified?
Yes. Uplift holds high-level certification from Acrobatic Arts, and our teachers bring professional training from programs including the New England Center for Circus Arts, AMDA, CLI Conservatory and Plymouth State University. Meet the full team on our about page.
Can parents watch class?
Our studios are designed so families feel welcome, and we hold observation opportunities throughout the year so you can see your dancer's progress. For everyday classes, we sometimes limit viewing to help younger students focus — your teacher will let you know what works best for each class. Questions? Contact us anytime.
What makes Uplift different?
We're the region's only dance and aerial arts studio, Acrobatic Arts certified, offering professional-level training in a genuinely welcoming community. Families consistently tell us Uplift has been life-changing for their children's confidence and growth. Learn more about our story and studio on our about page.
Programs & Teams
Do you have a competitive dance team?
Yes — we offer audition-based competitive and performance teams for dedicated students, with opportunities to perform and compete throughout the season. See our programs and teams page for details on tryouts and commitment.
Do you offer summer camps?
Yes. Little Movers camps (ages 4–7) and Big Movers camps (ages 7–14) run through the summer with themed weekly programs in dance, acro, circus and aerial arts. See our programs page for camp weeks and pricing, and our event calendar for dates.
